Privacy Policy
Motion Intelligence connects drivers, through a small device in their car and our driver app, with nearby businesses and with repair services. This policy explains what we collect from drivers and from businesses, how we use and store it, who we share it with, and how to reach us or delete your data.
Your phone number: we use it only to send you one-time sign-in codes, to send updates about your warranty claim on Midway if you agreed to them, and to recognize your account. We never sell it, never use it for marketing, and never give it to businesses or advertisers.
Information we collect from drivers
From the vehicle device
- Location, trips, mileage, speed and idle time.
- Vehicle readings such as fuel level, battery and engine trouble codes.
From the driver app
- Account: your mobile number and, if you add it, your email address, each confirmed with a one-time code. A recovery email, if you set one, to unlock your account on a new phone.
- Choices you make: your consent settings, which you can change any time in Settings.
- Optional profile: age range, gender, ethnicity and ZIP code, only if you choose to fill them in.
- Places: answers you give when we ask where you stopped (optional; you can delete them in My places).
- Documents you store in the document vault (title, registration, insurance and similar).
- Work Mode payouts, only if you drive in Work Mode to earn a share of trigger fees:
- your W-9, including your Social Security number or EIN;
- your payout method: bank routing and account numbers, or a Zelle, Venmo, PayPal or Cash App handle;
- your Work Mode sessions and earnings;
- trip records you send us to dispute a session.
Information we collect from businesses
- Business name, locations, contact name, email and phone, and the offers and trigger rules you set up.
- Billing records. Card payments are handled by Square; we don't store card numbers.
- Records of offers used at your locations.
How we use it
- To run the service: trips, vehicle health alerts, rewards and offers, and triggers for businesses near you.
- To sign you in, with a one-time code by text message or email.
- To send updates about your warranty claim by text, only if you agreed to them (see the SMS Terms).
- To pay Work Mode earnings and file tax forms (such as the 1099), and to check that Work Mode sessions match real driving.
- To produce aggregate statistics (Insights) about driving and visits. Demographic figures are shown only in groups of at least 5 vehicles.
- To bill businesses, prevent fraud and abuse, keep the service secure, and meet legal obligations.
What we share, and with whom
- Businesses learn about two things, only for their own triggers and offers:
- Trigger notices, if you have Location triggers on: that a vehicle met one of their triggers at a place or area they chose, sent to their system and shown in their dashboard. A notice has the time, the business's own offer, and a reference number that's new for every notice; we don't give them a way to link notices to each other or to you. If the business set a condition, the notice tells them it was met (fuel below a level, low recent fuel economy, idling longer than a set time, a check-engine light, a number of visits to the place, or a stay of a set length), but not the reading itself. Your age range, gender, ethnicity and ZIP are included, or used to decide which drivers a trigger is for, only if you turn on "Share my profile with matched partners" in Settings (off unless you turn it on). At sensitive places, such as medical, religious or legal offices, only simple offers are allowed: no data feeds, no visit or stay conditions, no profile filters, and notices from there don't include your profile.
- Offers: when one of their offers is added to a driver's wallet or used, with a code made for that one offer.
- Insights subscribers receive aggregate statistics only, not an individual driver's data.
- Fleet operators see, for each vehicle they enroll in their fleet, the number of trigger matches and the earnings from them, by device serial.
- TinMan (repair and maintenance), only if you choose to connect. Then we send TinMan's team the contact details you enter. If you link your accounts, we read your name, email and phone from TinMan. We don't send TinMan your Work Mode earnings, payouts, W-9, location or driving data.
- Service providers that run parts of the service for us: hosting (Render), file storage (Cloudflare), email (Resend), text messages (Bird), payments (Square) and the vehicle device service (VOYO). They may use the information only to provide those services.
- Warranty claims (Midway): To prepare and submit warranty claims, we share claim documents (such as repair orders, inspection photos and contracts) with service providers that process them for us, including AI services. They may use them only to provide that service, and your documents are never used to train AI models.
- Your car's data for a warranty claim (Midway): Only if you turn it on for a claim in the app, after seeing exactly what would be shared. We share the odometer readings and trouble codes your device recorded, from 90 days before the car was checked in until the claim closes or you turn sharing off. On most claims they go to the warranty company that decides your claim, your repair shop and Midway. When a dealer's warranty desk at Midway handles your claim, they go to the dealer, its warranty company, your repair shop and Midway. These readings may help or hurt your claim. For example, they can show when a warning light first came on. We never share where you drove, your speed or your trips. You can turn sharing off at any time, but readings already sent to the warranty company can't be taken back.
- Service records for a warranty claim (Midway): With your consent on a claim, Motion Intelligence gathers records of service on your vehicle: receipts and documents you or the repair center upload, documents you choose from your Motion Intelligence app, and TinMan service records for the same VIN. If you've shared your car's data on that claim, its odometer reading may fill in a missing mileage on a record. We use AI to read uploaded documents into the record's fields, and a reviewer checks every record. We share the records with that claim's repair center and warranty administrator and keep them with the claim. You can withdraw consent at any time on your claim page or in the app; records already sent with a claim stay with it.
- Get around (driver app): when you tap Uber or Lyft, their app opens with your car's last known location as the pickup. Rental companies and Turo get no location from us (Turo gets only a town name). Places you type are looked up with OpenStreetMap's free service.
- The law: when required by law or to protect people's safety or rights.
We do not sell your phone number or share it with anyone for marketing.
How we store and protect it
- Data is stored with our hosting and storage providers in the United States and sent over encrypted connections.
- Tax IDs, bank numbers, payout handles, W-9 forms and dispute files are encrypted with their own key. Only Motion Intelligence administrators can open them, and each time they do is recorded.
- Sign-in codes are stored only in scrambled (hashed) form and work once, for 10 minutes.
How long we keep it
- W-9 forms: 4 years after your last payout made under that form, as required for tax records.
- Trip records sent to dispute a session: 1 year after our decision.
- Bank numbers: deleted when you remove the bank account; past payouts keep only the last 4 digits.
- Everything else: while your account is active, or until you ask us to delete it, except records the law requires us to keep, such as payment and tax records.
Your choices
- Change consent settings, delete your profile answers and place answers, or remove documents in the driver app at any time.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and data by emailing eking@tinmanmto.com. We reply within 30 days.
- Text messages: reply STOP to stop texts, HELP for help (see the SMS Terms).
Children
Motion Intelligence is for adult drivers and businesses. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

If we change this policy we'll update the date above. For significant changes we'll also tell you in the app or by email.
